Cafe Adelaide | Loews New Orleans

Cafe Adelaide

Part of the Commander’s Palace Family of Restaurants, Cafe Adelaide is a tribute to a member of the founding Brennan family, Adelaide Brennan. Larger than life, always dressed in her pink and blue furs, with a life mantra of “Sparkle plenty!”, Adelaide’s colorful personality made her a favorite among posh social circles of the 1950s and 60s. Entertaining the likes of Rock Hudson, Bob Hope, and Jane Russell, taking dancing lessons from Carol Burnett and singing lessons from Phyllis Diller, Adelaide’s glamorous and naughty persona lives on, permeating the Cafe’s atmosphere and ambiance and ringing true in its trademark, “Eating, Drinking and Carrying On”.

Little known fact—Cafe Adelaide offers their Happier Hour seven days a week from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. On the weekends, Brunch with Hattitude is the place to be. If you wear a hat to brunch (no baseball caps though) you can enjoy up to three complimentary martinis. At lunch, every day of the week, these same delicious martinis are available for only 25¢ a piece. You heard that right! For only a quarter, you’ve got yourself a stellar cocktail with your meal.

Every menu (breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner) features EatFitNOLA approved, heart-healthy options as well as gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. The modern Creole menu items change seasonally and utilize locally sourced ingredients, so keep coming back to see what Chef Meg Bickford has cooking in the kitchen.

Cocktails at Swizzle Stick | Loews New Orleans

The Swizzle Stick Bar

Adelaide Brennan was all about style and the right accessories. One of these special touches she always wore was a golden swizzle stick on a chain around her neck. Periodically, in her own fabulously eccentric way, she would lean over and use her necklaced charm to swirl her cocktail. Unfortunately, the Bar doesn’t offer golden swizzle sticks to its patrons, but the skillfully created craft cocktails need no embellishment.

As a creative focal point behind the bar you’ll find a gleaming block of ice, decorated by a suspended bright red, old-fashioned, ice pick. Bartenders deftly dice cubes of ice from the block to use in their own inventive creations. Get cozy at the U-shaped bar or score a booth next to the window for a glimpse of the bustling Warehouse District.

Location, Location, Location

We don’t like to boast… but if we did, we would tell you we have the perfect location. Situated at the intersection of New Orleans’ food, art, music and culture scene, Loews New Orleans is within walking distance to all the best that the city has to offer. Nestled in the Warehouse District, the hotel is tucked away from the vibrant, sometimes overwhelming, energy of the French Quarter, yet only four blocks from the excitement. The heart of the Arts District lies only three blocks south on Julia Street, where 12 stunning art galleries await your perusal. Walking in the same direction, you’ll find the #2 Museum in the World, as ranked by TripAdvisor—the WWII Museum—as well as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Contemporary Arts Center. Two blocks east is the Riverfront, where you can find a bench and watch the rolling current of the mighty Mississippi, take in the shopping at the Riverfront Outlets or skip on over to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. One block north on Canal Street, bring the kids and mosey on over to the Audubon Insectarium and Butterfly Garden, or back on Julia Street, there’s the Louisiana Children’s Museum. In every direction, we have a streetcar line to take where you want to go, a famous restaurant on the corner, a jazz club down a shaded lane or world-famous attraction on which to feast your eyes.

Everywhere you look, it’s a wonderful place to wander.
