Atlanta

Before I got married, two pieces of advice really stood out to me. One was to ensure the person I married gave me the same enchantment I get when I see my food coming in a restaurant. The second was to never stop dating that person, even after the knot was tied. While I must admit it’s tough to beat the appeal of an arriving hot apple pie, the second piece of advice has proven to be more satisfying than any delicacy.

It doesn’t matter if you’re in a relationship, married or longing for a night away from the kids, everyone appreciates a date out with someone special. In Atlanta, there are ample activities for a lifetime of memorable dates. You only have to decide which one is most appealing.

The Seasonal Adventures

What’s more romantic than cozying up after a day in the snow? While Atlanta may not be known for a white Christmases, one can enjoy a taste of a winter wonderland at several locations. Overlook the Atlanta skyline as you “Skate in the Sky” on the rooftop of the popular Ponce City Market and warm up by the fire pit with your cocktail of choice. Stone Mountain Park’s Snow Mountain transports you from Atlanta to the North Pole, but is only a thirty-minute car ride away. Enjoy building a snowman, snowball shooting or experience the 400-foot tubing hill in this winter-lovers dream.

The Drink & Diners

There’s something about having a feast created for you that makes you weak in the knees. Spice things up with a cooking lesson at one of many cooking classes, such as The Cooking School at Irwin Street or Sur La Table. Another choice is Bottle Rocket, a hidden gem in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood, where you can learn to make your own sushi and wash it down with a sake bomb break. But don’t let the night stop when you can keep the good times hoppin’ at one of Atlanta’s many local breweries such as Orpheus, Sweetwater or Eventide.

The Competitive Couple

We all have that competitive friend who no one wants to play board games with anymore. If this applies to you, these are the activities you may want to skip. Call me “that friend” since, for me, there’s something strangely exciting about blasting your loved ones with colorful paint balls at Dosser Works. But if potentially causing pain to your date (or yourself) is not the vibe you’re going for, spend a night rolling strikes at Midtown Bowl or Buckhead’s Painted Pin. Their beer selections beat most bars in the city. Also, consider taking your date out for some tee time at Top Golf’s high-tech driving range. This swanky lounge has drinks, games and is fit for all types of weather. But the best part, no experience is required!

The Pampered Lovers

For those looking for a relaxing date, enjoy the company of one another in the lap of luxury at a spa. At Loews Atlanta’s exhale spa, be pampered from head to toe. Decompress with a couples massage or relax in the co-ed hammam and revitalize your senses with aromatherapy salts and mist.  For the more adventurous, take a day for yourself and visit Jeju’s Sauna. The Korean style bathhouse offers over 35,000 square feet of hot tubs, showers, saunas and pools. Not only do they have rooms for naps, they also offer a variety of exotic ethnic eats. While most areas are gender-segregated, there are unisex areas as well.

While the winter season in Atlanta may be less severe and have a shorter duration than most of the country, we are fortunate to enjoy all four seasons. Take advantage of this seasonal change to rekindle your relationship with someone special.
