As the holidays approach, many parents are searching for the perfect gift for their families and what better gift to give than the gift of memories? Los Angeles is a very family friendly destination with popular attractions like Disneyland Parks and Six Flags Magic Mountain. However, if you’re looking for something a little more off the beaten path and centered away from the craziness that can be Anaheim, Hollywood has just got the thing for you and your family.

Loews Loves Kids

Upon arriving to Loews Hollywood Hotel, your little ones under the age of 10 will be greeted by our Front Desk Team Members and given a plastic souvenir cup as part of our Loews Loves Kids program. What’s so great about a cup, you ask? Well, with the cup your children can frequent our new Bodega Grab & Go Market and receive unlimited fountain drink refills. Yes, you heard right. And don’t worry; we’ve got something for Mom and Dad too. Purchase a refillable Bodega coffee mug and you’ve got the golden ticket to unlimited Starbucks drip coffee refills as well. (You’re welcome.)

In addition the kids cup, our youngest guests receive the following benefits from our Loews Loves Kids program: access to toys, books, strollers, night-lights, potty seats, and self-contained DVD players with age appropriate DVDs. And we haven’t forgotten about teens. Tweens and teens receive music download cards, access to board games, DVD players and even a lending library of Gameboys.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Yes, Universal Studios Hollywood is a partner of our hotel, but the park honestly made our list because it’s simply awesome! This theme park is located just one freeway exit, one Metro Red Line stop, or a quick taxi/Uber ride away. Not only did they recently introduce the popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ but they offer something for guests of all ages. The little ones will definitely love Super Silly Fun Land and its main attraction, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. To be honest, I loved Super Silly Fun Land and may or may not have photographic evidence of riding the “Silly Swirly Fun Ride” with my sister-in-law… and we’re both well into our 20s!

Even for the teens (and, let’s face it, adults) it’s hard not to be impressed walking into the cartoon imagination of Matt Groening and Springfield, USA. Get your donut on at LardLad, enjoy a cold Squishee from the Kwik-E-Mart, and go on a high speed adventure with The Simpsons™ in Krustyland. Doh!

El Capitan Theatre

If you’re looking for an activity a little closer to the hotel look no further than Hollywood Blvd. Not only does it boast the famous “Hollywood Walk of Fame” but it’s also home to some of LA’s greatest theaters which house many of the Hollywood movie premieres. In 1941, the El Capitan Theatre was converted from a playhouse into a theatre and is now in its 90th year. Owned by Disney, it’s the perfect place to take the family for a fun Hollywood movie experience where you can always catch their latest creation on the big screen. But be sure to check out their schedule before heading into town and buying tickets because you may never know what might pop up. Often times during the holiday seasons you can catch special showings of favorites like Hocus Pocus, Frozen and even the occasional classics like Mulan and Lady and the Tramp on “Throwback Thursdays.”

Oh and if you’re seeing a show at this theater then your experience isn’t complete without a stop at the Disney Studio Store and Ghirardelli Soda Fountain next door! Stock up on your favorite Ghirardelli sweets (and trust me every flavor you can imagine is there) and even favorite Disney characters in stuffed, wearable, or edible forms.

Wishing you and your family a wonderfully fun Hollywood experience!
