The love of nature’s four seasons in our great state of Minnesota is easier in the summer when the cold temperatures are gone, nature has opened its doors and being outside is pleasant. I wanted to give you some ideas on some things you could do for your next date, whether it’s a first date, friend date or romantic date. All of these options will work well for any occasion.
Interactive Date Ideas in Minneapolis
Have you heard of lawn bowling? If not, you need to try it because you can get swept up in fun for hours! Just a few blocks from Loews Minneapolis is a well-known bar called Brit’s Pub. They have outdoor rooftop lawn bowling, along with a massive outdoor patio for al fresco drinking and eating, plus some great people watching.
Music and Movies
There’s nothing better than being outside in the summer, so how about catching a movie or a band in one of our 179 parks? The city of Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board hosts lots of monthly events in parks around the twin cities. Whether you feel like tapping your toes or cuddling on a blanket under the stars, there’s an event awaiting you and your date.
If you’re in town the second weekend in July, mark your calendar for the Basilica Block Party. The Basilica of Saint Mary hosts this multi-day concert and block party where you can see 20 different bands, experience 50+ food & beverage vendors and hang out with 5000 locals and visitors. This is a popular one and tickets sell out early.
Day Date Ideas
If you’re more of a daytime date person, you might be interested in renting a canoe and riding along the shores of Lake of the Isles to look at the beautiful houses. There are so many unique mansions along these shores that you could spend hours dreaming of your favorite one day being your own!
Another great place for a day date is the Japanese Peace Garden located on Lake Harriet, one of Minneapolis’s Chain of Lakes. This is the country’s second oldest public rose garden. Enjoy the beautiful landscaping and have a picnic while you are there.
