Vinoteca burger - Madison
Washington, D.C.

Summer is here and it’s time to make the most of the beautiful weather! Take advantage of the longest days of the year by dining and drinking al fresco at some of the best outdoor spaces in D.C. These outdoor hot spots are the perfect place to grab a brew or two or a casual meal. And best of all, they’re a quick trip from Loews Madison.

Every Day is Oktoberfest in Washington, D.C.

Biergarten - Madison

Biergarten Haus offers a taste of Bavaria right here on Capitol Hill. Located on H St., Biergarten Haus is one of the few year-round beer gardens in Washington, D.C. The inside features two beautiful bars stretched over two floors, while the 400+ capacity beer garden has three outdoor bars and an additional roof-deck overlooking the garden.

In addition to a wide variety of German beer, you can enjoy Bavarian fare like schnitzels, bratwurst, and warm pretzel rolls with beer cheese and mustard. Want to live like a local? Show up on Tuesday nights for trivia!

The Roof is on Fire

Roofers Union - Madison

Our friends at Thrillist named Roofers Union, with its industrial theme and rooftop deck in Adams Morgan, one of the best outdoor venues in D.C. Probably the best word to describe Roofers Union is simply cool, from the kick-butt view on the roof deck and the restaurant’s “coverall wall” to the brightly colored tropical punches (such as the Lei Me Down, served in punch bowls) available on the roof only.

Besides the famous punch, Roofers Union offers craft beers and cocktails along with a menu of hearty brats, burgers, and snacks. Best bets are the fried chicken thigh sandwich with Sriracha honey, andouille corndogs, bacon-cheddar burgers and “Breaking the Curse” dessert. Be sure to check their website for special events like beer release parties.

In Vino Veritas

Vinoteca - MadisonVinoteca is the perfect summertime spot to enjoy burgers and bocce, and of course, wine! The Vinoteca plaza is where all the action happens. Bocce (lawn bowling) is open Wednesday through Friday from 5pm to close, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to close. As its name implies Vinoteca offers an extensive by-the-glass wine list along with seasonal beer and cocktails.

Stop by for weekend brunch for innovative meals like the Bacon Peanut Butter Sandwich, Duck Confit Benedict, and Silver Dollar Pancakes with Smoked Walnut Ginger Butter. More a dog and burger guy (or gal)? Try the Who Dat Doggy: a boudin pork dog with grilled red onions and remoulade or the Holy Mother of Pork Burger topped with Gruyere, fig, and bacon jam.
